Skepticism
David Hume (1711-1776) is the father of skepticism. He believed that all knowledge came from our sensory experience and that we should be skeptical of all truth because we cannot know anything for sure. He also argued that statements about the knowledge of God are unknowable and that we can never truly know anything about God. Many atheists are skeptics, doubting everything and refusing to acknowledge truth claims. This radical skepticism can lead to a mindset that is unwilling to openly interact with new ideas, which can be frustrating in a conversation.
