Postmodernism
Postmodernism (No Truth Exists)
The rise of postmodernism has led to a shift in how reality is perceived. This philosophy rejects the existence of objective truth and advocates for the deconstruction of established meaning and structures. Postmodernism teaches that reality cannot be found through human endeavor. Therefore, all knowledge is a social construct. Truth claims are reduced to political power plays. The meaning of words is found by the reader rather than the author. Reality is what we say it is.
The root of this radical interpretation is a battle to exert power by tearing down all meaning. There is no objective reality. There are no universal truths. Any overarching story (metanarrative) is just an attempt to control people. It has had a significant impact on various aspects of society, including education and religious beliefs. Many Americans, including Christians, now doubt the existence of absolute truth, reflecting the influence of postmodernism on mainstream and religious culture.
